出国留学必做的6件事

作为一个英语老师，我一直告诉我的学生们，学英语的最终目的并不仅仅是高分通过考试，而是提升自己的交流能力，参与到更广阔的对话中去。

English is the world's second language. Your native language is your life. But with English you can become part of a wider conversation, a global conversation about global problems, like climate change, poverty, hunger or disease.

所以结合自己的出国留学经验，东哥总结了出国留学必做的6件事，希望对大家的学习有所启示：

1 Don't only try to learn from books (you can do that anywhere).

这一条肯定会引起很多误解。很多人会说，我问了很多学长，他们都建议在国外要多看书、多写论文。他们说的是没错，但是东哥想要告诉大家的是，如果我们只是学习书本上的东西，何必出国呢？现在互联网资源那么丰富，你在哪里都可以学习。

2 Get involved: join clubs and associations, take up new hobbies, learn new skills—that'll bring you into contact with new people, and expose you to new sorts of language.

所以你要做的是参加社团、俱乐部，尽可能地去体验当地生活。培养自己的新爱好，学习一些新的技能，结识更多的新朋友，尽可能地沉浸在新的语言环境中。

3 Do what the locals do: go to films, see the exhibitions, and even watch the popular TV programs. This will help you find things to talk about with new friends, and will give you a good idea of how people think about the world.

做当地人做的事：去看电影，去博物馆看展览，甚至看流行的电视节目。这可以帮你和你的新朋友找到共同话题，思考别人是怎么看待这个世界的。

4 Compare articles in foreign and Chinese newspapers and magazines, for example, to see different points of view. Do the same with other topics you are interested in.

比较中外报纸和杂志上的文章看待某件事的角度，尝试从不同的角度看待这个世界。

5 Never do the minimum in class—show that you want more and that you are keen to learn.

在课上一定要积极主动，把努力的一面展现给老师看。你要学会承担更多，学习更多。

6 However you learnt in the past, don't limit yourself to that. For example, if you used to spend hours learning lists of vocabulary, perhaps you could do that, but for less time. Try new ways of learning, new systems, new techniques—you might find you learn better and differently.

无论你过去是怎么学习的，都不要把自己束缚在旧的学习方式中。如果你以前要花几个小时背单词，你还可以继续这么做，但尝试少花一点时间。尝试新的学习方法、学习技巧，你会发觉你学习的效率变得更高。
