Major Social and Economic Goals of Shaanxi Province in the 14th Five-Year Plan

The high-quality economic growth will make greater strides. Innovation-driven development is in the forefront of the country, and the modern industrial system led by manufacturing will basically take shape, with per capita GDP reaching around 90,000 yuan.

Major breakthroughs will be achieved in reform and opening up. An international trade route with high efficiency, low cost and excellent service will be built in the hinterland.

Remarkable progress will be made in building a leading cultural province. Yan'an Spirit will be spread much wider, and the cultural influence will be further enhanced.

Shaanxi's ecological environment will continue to improve. The environment-friendly transformation of production and life style will achieve remarkable results, so that people in Shaanxi Province enjoy a much better environment with lush mountains, lucid waters and blue sky.

Living standards will continue to improve. More and better jobs will be offered, and people's income growth will keep pace with economic development.

The governance efficiency will be greatly improved. Social equality and justice will be further highlighted, and a new social governance pattern characterized with joint construction, governance and sharing will be preliminarily formed.

The 14th National Games

The National Games of the People's Republic of China, abbreviated as the "National Games", is the highest level, the most competitive, and the most comprehensive sport event in China with its strongest radiate effects. Holding the National Games exerts great significance in promoting the comprehensive development of sports and sports industry of Shaanxi Province, in constructing Xi'an as a cosmopolitan city and a new highland of reform and opening up of the hinterland, in active responding to "the Belt and the Road Initiative", and in catching up and reaching her goals.

This is the first national games held in China's west. In order to make it a people's sports event that involves the whole society and that integrates development with joint construction and sharing, as well as a cultural event to inherit the history and culture, recall the revolutionary traditions, and carry forward the spirit of the times, Shaanxi adheres to the requirements of "safety, quality, environmental protection, humanity, and simplicity" in implementing systematic planning and meticulous management. By gathering wisdom of all parties, taking the power of the whole province, and aiming at "running the National Games to benefit the people, exhibit the new look of Shaanxi Province, and realize the century dream", Shaanxi is carrying out the preparatory work with high quality and standard. Up to now all 51 venues have been completed.

On August 4, 2019, the emblem and mascot of the 14th National Games were officially released.

The design of the emblem of the 14th National Games is based on the Yubi (a flat round jade with a perforated center) which was used to worship the heaven. Jade is the essence of nature, and Yubi is a tribute to heaven. It means that the Chinese people celebrate the realization of the first centennial dream and embrace the second one with the greatest vigor.

A group of happy, energetic, and positive sports mascot images are designed on the basis of the four national treasure animals unique to the Qinling Mountains of Shaanxi, namely crested ibis, giant panda, takin, and golden monkey.

The Crested ibis "Zhuzhu", torch in hand, is spreading its wings and running. The giant panda "Xiongxiong" opens its arms and looks enthusiastic and unrestrained. The takin "Lingling" shows a strong and cute image and strides forward. The golden monkey"Jinjin" looks smart, agile and lovely. The mascots dressed in sportswear of "Yellow" (for wealth), "Red" (for the scared land of the Chinese Revolution), "Blue" (for dream) and "Green" (for ecology) respectively imply striding into the new era, welcoming all guests, sharing a new life, and building the Chinese Dream together.
