Network as the cornerstone

We have discussed in the preceding section, the various technologies involved in digitization. The essence of digitization is creating new experiences for the customers and getting new insights about customer behavior that can be used to enhance services/generate additional revenues.

Network is becoming ever so important in this digitization wave, as the network serves as the highway for transporting data efficiently and effectively. It is the network allows organizations to make full use of digitization as the data is widespread, and needs to be collected and processed effectively either in the DC or in the cloud. Further, this environment is dynamic and the network has to be able to support all possible scenarios and has to be agile enough to adapt to meet the changing needs.

The network as a standalone entity is now being viewed not only as transport infrastructure for the data being generated, but is also being used to enable new customer experiences, and providing new insights about user patterns. We will discuss these aspects in the upcoming sections.
