Test Management

The Test Management plugin is another tool supported by Jira. It has similar components to those of synapseRT and Zephyr, and facilitates test case creation and managing test cases using the different test suites. Testers can create test cycles based on the types of testing required for the selected requirement, for different browsers' tests, and so on.

It is possible to track the requirements for defects with the help of a traceability matrix. It extends the support for automation tools and DevOps tools using the REST API. The Test Management tool is available to use in localized languages such as English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.

The Test Management tool is available to download from the Atlassian Marketplace (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/). The current version of the Test Management tool (v5.1.1) has been used for this book.

In the following screenshots, you will see the before and after installation scenarios.

Before installing and enabling the Test Management plugin, the Jira project doesn't have a Tests tab in the menu bar:

As you can see, it added a tab called Tests and Test Management for Jira on the Administration dropdown:

In order to view the Test Management tool for the issue type (which is the requirement in your case), such as Epic, Story, Task, and so on) you will need to enable it. On enabling the plugin for your project, you will be able to create tests for the project from the Tests tab as follows:
