Securing repositories
While the security options with distributed source control are often not as broad as with centralized source control, Azure Repos offers some means to set authorizations on a repository or a server-side branch. In the last image of the previous section, you can also see how you can select a group or user in the middle column and then update the authorizations on the repository. By default, all authorizations are inherited from project defaults.
It is recommended to only change authorizations a little as possible and if you do, it is often best to work via groups and allow authorizations.
You can also change the authorizations for a specific branch by opening the repositories branches in the drop-down menu on the left and clicking on the branch you want to override the authorizations for. In the preceding screenshot, this is marked with a 3.
