How YafaRay works
With the textures and materials setup completed, we can move on to render the scene in YafaRay. Let's take a look at how YafaRay works. When we call the export script, a few tabs will appear to set up the working of render. Each tab will control the scene in a certain way, from the object settings to the render method.
There are four tabs available:
- Objects: This tab controls aspects of each object, such as the ability to emit light or different types of cameras or lights. The options change based on the type of object that is selected. For instance, if a camera is selected, we will see options to edit the camera, and a lamp will show options to control the way it will light the scene in YafaRay.
- Material: The name of this tab is self-explanatory; it controls the materials in the scene. There are several types of materials to choose from.
- World: A scene in YafaRay may have a lot of different aspects that we could change. In this tab, we can choose the background color, background settings, and even add a simulation of a SunSky.
- Settings: Among all the tabs, this is one of the most important because it controls the method used to render the scene. The render method can be decisive to control the quality and amount of time required to generate the images.
With the RENDER button, we will start the rendering process of a still image, and the Render anim will call all frames from an animation.
For this project, we have to change the materials of the objects, light types, and set the render method for the scene.
