Summary

In this chapter, we have navigated around the Joomla! directory and looked at the file structure of VirtueMart. We then explained the working of Joomla! through the model-view-controller model and compared this to the VirtueMart presentation framework. The roles of templates and themes in the VirtueMart pages were discussed. We then presented a list of possibilities for VirtueMart customizations and things that need to be considered before starting a VirtueMart customization project.

In the next chapter, we will take a look at the default VirtueMart theme and see how to configure it to change the look of your VirtueMart shop.
