8 Slag Treatment

8.1 General Process Design

8.1.1 Slag may be treated by the following process methods:

Slag stewing method,hot slag splashing method,drum method,air granulation method,water granulation method,tray method,grid method,soaking method and air cooling and spray method.

8.1.2 Slag shall be treated by a process ensuring no slag touches the ground in the whole process to improve the level of environmental protection and treatment efficiency.

8.1.3 In the slag treatment process,the content of free calcium oxide in the slag shall be controlled to meet diversified subsequent use requirements.The particle size of slag treated should not be greater than 100mm.

8.1.4 The capacity of the slag treatment unit shall meet the requirement for maximum hourly slag output.

8.1.5 Emergency slag treatment facility shall be provided in slag treatment shop.

8.1.6 In a slag shop,slag pots or trays with molten slag must be hoisted by casting crane.

8.1.7 The facilities for secondary slag processing must be provided with dust cleaning facility.The dust concentration in the emitted gas must be in accordance with Air Pollutant Emission Standard for Steelmaking Industry(GB 28664).

8.1.8 After recovery of scrap,slag shall be comprehensively utilized.
