8.2 Vegetation Arrangement
8.2.1 Vegetation arrangement of plant area shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
1 Agreeing with general layout, vertical arrangement and integrated arrangement of pipeline, and harmonizing with surrounding environment, buildings and structures.
2 Not affecting safety of the vehicles/wagons travelling on the road and railways;the plants grown along roads and railways shall not intrude in the sight distance, and intervisibility of the driving sight distance shall be ensured.
3 Not hampering the production, the natural ventilation of water cooling facility, material transportation, equipment inspection and maintenance, and fire fighting service.
4 Making the best of passageways, sporadic open spaces, walls, slope protections and reserved spaces inside the plant.
8.2.2 Selection of vegetation plant shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
1 Trees, flowering trees, flowering shrubs and flowers of great appreciation value as well as goodquality turfs should be grown in the important vegetation areas such as production management area, two sides of the main trunk road,entrance/exit of important shops, outdoor area nearby the living facilities and where human activity frequently takes place.
2 The stree trees should be nice-looking and pruneable ones with straight trunk, which have no adverse influence on the sanitation and pipelines at two sides of the roads;in addition to that, beside the trees may be provided some flowering shrubs, flowers and lawn that go well with the nature and pattern of roads and suit the landscaping requirement.
3 For shops generating harmful gas,the trees of strong resistance and tolerance shall be selected;however the tree arrangement shall not impede the diffusion of harmful gas.
4 For shops generating dust or requiring dustproof measures, trees and shrubs and turfs selected shall be those free from shedding much fluff, with thick and massy foliage, with rough and stiff leaves, and having strong dust retention ability.
5 Tall trees with big crown and thick foliage shall be selected in the vicinity of the shops and sites to be shaded.
6 Dense noise-isolation green belts made up of evergreen trees with low branches and thick foliage shall be provided in the vicinity of the shops or facilities which emit noise or of which noise isolation is highly required.
7 For the buildings and facilities like shops and warehouses of which fire resistance is required, such tree species as with big moisture and less colophony and having the function of impeding the spread of fire shall be selected within the fire separation distance.
8 Thermophilous and water-tolerant tree species shall be planted in the vinicity of water cooling facilities.
9 Deciduous trees and shrubs shall not be planted around the thickening tank, sedimentation tank, open type conditioning tank and suction well.
10 Climbing plant may be grown on the surface of retaining wall, slope protection, and exterior wall of buildings/structures appropriate for vertical vegetation.
11 Drought-resistant and pollution-tolerant plants should be grown on the top and slope of dumping site where the dumping work has been completed.
12 Turfs, grass flowers and shallow-rooted shrubs may be planted in the overlying soil of the underground warehouse, water storage tank and underground pipeline area if the overlying soil is 20cm-50cm thick(unless it is explicitly specified that some areas should not be greened, for instance, areas with thermal power pipeline and directly-buried cable).
13 Pruneable and shallow-rooted drawf tree/shrubs shall be planted on two sides of the overhead pipelines(including overhead electric power lines)and pipe galleries and below the tree/shrubs may be grown some flowers and turfs.
14 Plants that can serve as environmental pollution indicator may be cultivated in the areas where environmental monitoring is required.
15 Local tree species shall be selected as the major species.
16 Consideration should be given to mixed selection of both trees and shrubs,fast-growing trees and slow-growing ones, evergreen trees and deciduous ones in the vegetation design.
8.2.3 The minimum distance between tree and building/structure and pipeline shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
1 The minimum distance between tree and building/structure shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 8.2.3-1.
2 The minimum distance between tree and outer wall of underground pipeline or pipe trench shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 8.2.3-2.
3 The minimum distance between street tree and overhead conductor line for electric power below 66kV shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 8.2.3-3.
4 The minimum distance between street tree and overhead conductor line for 110kV-500kV electric power shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 8.2.3-4.
5 The minimum distance from tree branch to overhead communication cable or to open wire shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 8.2.3-5.

Notes:1 For item No.1,the minimum distance shall be 3m if the diameter of tree crown is not larger than 5m,and 5m if the crown diameter is larger than 5m.
2 The values for item 2-10 and item 14 apply to the trees with crown diameter no larger than 5m.If the crown diameter is larger than 5m,the said values shall be increased accordingly.
