被动语态的一般过去时由“was/were +过去分词”构成。如：
The toothbrush was invented in 1498．牙刷发明于1498年。
Ice cream was made without sugar and eggs at first．最初的冰激凌不用糖和鸡蛋做。
Several weeks after a young man had been hired, he was called into the manager's office.
“What is the meaning of this?” the manager asked. “When you applied for this job, you told us you had five years' experience. Now we discovered this is the first job you've ever held.”
“Well,” the young man replied, “in your advertisement（广告）you said you wanted somebody with imagination.”
