To Have No Equal in One's Time

Ordered by King Huiwen of Zhao State, Lin Xiangru escorted the Jade of He Shi to Qin State. With super courage and wisdom, Lin Xiangru returned the jade intact to Zhao State. Because Lin Xiangru not only made the King of Qin State lose face and kept the dignity of Zhao State, but also returned safely, he earned a great reputation in Zhao State.

Once talking with his friend Shen Zi, Lin Xiangru said proudly,“Everyone says that the King of Qin State is as ferocious as a tiger and no one dare to touch him. But this time, I have not only touched his head, but also patted his shoulder.”

Shen Zi admired Lin's courage and wisdom greatly, so he praised highly and said,“Great! You are really a person who has no equal in the time.”

Now we use this idiom to indicate having no equal in one's time. Everybody has his extraordinary aspect. Young people are definitely supposed to obtain this kind of personal ability, so that they will not be knocked out in competition.
