A Study on the Causes of Campus Bullying from the Perspective of Social Control Theory

Abstract: The causes of campus bullying are complex and changeable. From the perspective of Travis Hershey's theory of social control, we analyze that social control factors effect on campus bullying by the structural equation model based on 3777 primary and middle school students questionnaire data when self control ability is an intermediary variable. The results show that the social control elements and self control has a significant direct impact on campus bullying; self control plays a partial mediating role between social control elements and campus bullying;involvement is the primary cause of campus bullying.
