Chapter 2 Literature Review

This chapter reviews previous studies in three areas of language study.Sections 2.1 and 2.2 look back on the notions of lexicalized sentence stem and textual sentence stem，which are the major inspirations of the present research.Section 2.3 discusses the evaluative potential of TSSs，with a special focus on how the evaluative perspective has been applied to the study of academic discourse features and to cross-linguistic comparative studies.Section 2.4 makes a survey of corpus-driven studies of phraseology.In particular，we shall make a review of how this empirical tradition is associated with issues in language description and translation.
